Hello again, I hope you are all transitioning back to real life after the long holiday weekend. I celebrated Labor Day by attending Dragon*Con, in case you were wondering why I didn’t blog much last week. Check out my Instagram for the highlights, including my Leaf (Game of Thrones) cosplay.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming, I love the whole concept of Project Pan. The idea is to completely use up a product and to document your progress. When running a beauty blog, it can be hard to avoid glorifying consumerism because we’re always needing new topics which tend to be new products and new trends. That’s one of the reasons I highlight my empty products once a month, to bring the focus away from the new or the next and reflect on what I already have. Hopefully, it also helps others decide if it is worth purchasing or not. With that in mind, Project Pan seems like a natural fit for me. For my first official pan, I chose Urban Decay’s Naked Ultimate Basics palette.

I purchased this palette in October of 2016, eleven months ago at this point. I had just gotten into makeup and this was the first palette that I purchased in those early days that I still stand by. The palette is almost entirely matte (with the exception of Blow which is a pale beige with a bit of sparkle to it) which makes it my favorite palette. I’ve used it pretty sporadically since then and I’ve barely made a dent. In August, I made an effort to use it every day and I’ve still barely made a dent!

Its actually quite gratifying that this palette has lasted me for so long because at $64, it is definitely one of the most expensive in my collection. That’s one of the main reasons I chose this palette, to make sure I get my money’s worth! Another reason was because of this palette’s versatility. It can serve as the foundation for just about any look, warm or cool, or it can build a neutral or smokey look all by itself. So far, I’ve made the most progress on the shades Blow, Commando, and Instinct.

I’m so glad I decided to take on this project. I have a deeper appreciation for this palette and when I do finish it up, I will repurchase it.

What makeup products are you close to using up?
